Frequently Asked Questions

Finding time for therapy can be tricky with a busy schedule. To make sure you can access support outside of standard 9-to-5 working hours, I routinely offer evening and weekend appointments.
You can view live availability and book your appointment directly via my Google Calendar link. If you cannot find a suitable slot online, please feel free to send a message through the contact form to arrange an alternative time.
-
I offer online video sessions via a secure platform. Remote therapy has proven to be just as clinically effective as in-person sessions and offers the flexibility to fit easily into a busy schedule.
If you would prefer a face-to-face session this is something we could discuss but may incur additional costs to ensure we can meet at a private and confidential space. It is not appropriate to meet at your place of residence or work.
-
First we will arrange a 15 minute introductory call to find out briefly about your individual or organisational needs.
For therapy, an initial assessment is charged at £140, and subsequent blocks of four sessions are charged at £120. All sessions must be pre-paid via bank transfer at least 48 hours before the scheduled session to secure your time slot.
If you are exploring consultancy or training please get in touch to discuss a bespoke package.

At this time, I operate entirely on a self-funding basis and do not accept direct payments from private health insurance providers at present but this is something we may explore in the future. I can, however, provide detailed invoices if you wish to attempt to claim costs back independently from your provider.

It is entirely normal to feel unsure about starting therapy. You don’t need to be in a crisis to seek support; therapy is a space for anyone wanting to understand themselves better, process difficult experiences, or work through a sense of being "stuck." Our initial assessment is specifically designed as a low-pressure space for us to explore what is going on for you. It gives you a feel for how I work, and allows us both to decide if we are a good clinical match.
-
We always begin with an initial assessment session to explore what you are experiencing and ensure this service is the right fit for your needs. Following a successful assessment, therapy is typically structured and booked in blocks of four sessions. A standard therapy session lasts approximately 50 minutes.
-
Therapy is entirely collaborative. At the end of our initial four-session block, we will hold a review together to look at your progress and discuss how you feel the sessions are going. If you feel you need ongoing support, we can mutually agree to book a further block of sessions. You are always in control of your therapeutic journey.
-
Life gets in the way sometimes, and I understand that plans have to change. If you need to alter an appointment, we will always endeavor to rearrange your session at a mutually convenient time.
To manage this fairly, the following policy applies to pre-paid sessions:
With 48 hours' notice: You can cancel or reschedule your session without penalty.
With 24 hours' notice (or in a genuine emergency): We will do our absolute best to work with you to rearrange the session.
Late cancellations & DNAs: Any sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or sessions where a client "Did Not Attend" (DNA) with no contact, will still be charged at the full rate.
-
If I ever need to cancel a session due to illness or an unforeseen emergency, I will give you the earliest possible notice. Any pre-paid sessions will be rearranged at absolutely no extra cost to you at the next possible mutually agreed time.
-
No, this stays entirely between us. You are always welcome to share your own therapeutic journey with anyone you choose, but all information you share with me is strictly confidential.
To give you a real-world example of how deeply I respect your privacy: if we happen to "bump" into each other out in public, I will not say hello or acknowledge you unless you choose to acknowledge me first. Furthermore, I would never acknowledge to anyone else that you are, or ever have been, a client of mine unless you explicitly choose to share that information yourself. This ensures your privacy and anonymity are fully protected at all times.
-
During our initial intake, I will ask for your basic personal details, including your GP details and an emergency contact.
While therapy is confidential, there are a few strict ethical and legal exceptions:
Risk of Harm: If I believe there is a significant risk of harm to yourself or others, I am duty-bound to share this information with appropriate professionals (such as your GP or emergency services). I will always endeavor to discuss this with you first wherever possible.
GP Communication: Depending on your unique needs, I may recommend writing to your GP after your initial assessment, and again upon your discharge. This communication is designed to help them understand your strengths and difficulties, outline what ongoing support you might need, and officially note that you are beginning or ending therapy.
This collaborative approach is something I will tell you more about during our first session, and you are welcome to ask any questions you have about it then.

Your data protection and privacy are of the utmost importance to me. I employ strict administrative and digital safeguards to keep your information secure:
Electronic Lock & Key: All digital records are stored securely in a private, encrypted online database under electronic lock and key.
Strict Anonymisation: To fully protect your privacy, no sensitive or identifying confidential data (such as your name, address, or contact details) is ever kept alongside your client therapy notes. Your notes are entirely anonymised and unidentifiable, meaning anyone looking at them would have no way of linking them back to you.
Archiving Policy: In line with professional requirements, data is securely archived after seven years.

Unlike holistic practitioners or life and sports coaches, I am a regulated professional bound by a strict ethical framework. I practice in accordance with the ethical guidance and codes of conduct set out by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). This ensures you receive the highest standard of safe, evidence-based, and accountable care.

Therapy can feel deeply challenging at times. Part of my role as a Clinical Psychologist is to help you explore your current difficulties in a new light, which can occasionally feel uncomfortable or challenging to navigate. Furthermore, human relationships can sometimes be complex.
If you ever feel a strain in our work, encounter a challenge, or have a concern, I warmly encourage you to speak with me (Danielle) in the first instance. I am completely committed to helping you feel safe and supported, and I routinely check in with my clients so we can openly discuss how the sessions are feeling and work together to find a positive resolution.
-
Because I practice as an independent, freelance practitioner, my professional support network and clinical supervisors belong externally to this practice. This means there is not an internal management team or a separate person within this agency for you to speak to.
However, because my practice is strictly guided by professional standards, you always have external recourse. If you ever have a serious concern regarding my professional practice that we cannot resolve together, I encourage you to contact my regulatory bodies directly:
You can report a professional concern through the HCPC Raise a Concern Page.
You can consult the professional misconduct guidelines via the BPS Complaints Procedure.

To maintain clear professional boundaries and ensure a consistent, high-quality service, support is provided during scheduled appointments only.
Email can be used for practical, administrative matters—such as arranging appointments, invoicing, or sharing agreed-upon therapeutic resources. Please note that email is not monitored continuously and should not be used for urgent concerns, crisis situations, or requests for immediate psychological support. I aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe during working hours, but I am typically unavailable outside of scheduled appointments, during evenings, weekends, or periods of annual and professional leave.

No. This practice is not designed to provide support during a mental health crisis, and I am unable to offer an emergency, on-call, or crisis response service.
Our initial assessment is designed to ensure my service can safely meet your needs. If at any point we feel this service is not the right fit, or if you require a higher tier of care, we will provide guidance and signpost you to the appropriate services that can support you.
